[resolved] Reading Settings How to hide Your latest posts (8 posts)

    I feel like I am the Queen of Morons right now! I'm new to WordPress and am confused about something. I finally figured out the difference between Reading Settings "Your latest posts" and "A static page". That took 1/2 day!

    I created a new page for my home page, selected "A static page" and achieved what I wanted. The problem is the home page that came with my theme (U-design) is still showing (it is a post). So my breadcrumb is showing Home (this is a post I guess) + Bio (page I made) + Home (page I made and set to static).

    How do I hide the original Home page that was set to "Your latest posts"?

    Thank you!

    Julie

    Hey Julie, don't worry, it's all very confusing at first :)

    I think you mean Navigation instead of Breadcrumb, right?

    Go to the Posts section and delete any unwanted posts. Go to the Pages section and delete any unwanted Pages. Then, go to Appearance -> Menus and set up or change the primary navigation menu to show what you want.

    I did mean navigation. There are no posts listed under the posts section and the original Home does not show up under pages because it is a post (I think?). That same Home does not show under Appearance -> Menus.

    Thanks!

    Strange. Do you have a URL you can share?

    Sure, http://planetvoisin.com The first Home in the navigation is the one that came with the theme, it was set up as a post, the second Home in the navigation is the new page I created.

    Have you set up a menu at all?

    Go to Appearance -> Menus.

    If there isn't a menu, create one, and if your theme has a 'Primary Navigation' area, set it.

    If there are menus, check for multiple menus, see if there's a primary or top menu, and see what's listed there. You likely need to just delete the first Home from that menu.

    You're welcome, glad you got it sorted!

    One other thing I noticed is that your Home page is using the default widgets (the sidebar elements). You can edit those from Appearance -> Widgets.

    Have fun!
