[resolved] Re-install original pilcrow banner image (6 posts)

I would like to put back the original image on Pilcrow's heading onto my web site. For some reason, the image changed, and is now different on each page. In the meantime, another programmer made a child theme so that certain files are not over - but I am not sure if this image will again be over written.

If I have moderate knowledge of coding issues, will I be able to change the image back? Or will I need to pay someone to do this? I am willing to pay if need be.

    Thank you.

    Terry

  2. Hi Terry the Pilcrow header works like this.

You can upload a general header under Appearance → Header

If you want a special header image for a particular post or page, you can upload a Featured Image from the post and page edit screens, which will override the general header for that individual post or page only.

Let me know if this helps! Setting the header in either of the above ways doesn't require any coding, it's done directly in the dashboard.

    Hi Kathryn

Thank you for the assistance .

When I did option one above, and did a "preview", the widget on page two disappeared - So it seems to be overwriting the site.

I had someone make and install this widget - you'll see it here.

Is there a way to SIMPLY get the banner IMAGE without overwriting the site?

    Thank you again

Is the "Send video recording" area visible in this screenshot what you mean by your "widget"?

That should not be affected by uploading a new site header image. It's contained in the main content column and is unrelated to the header area.

If you're very concerned, you can always try this on a test site first. Having a test copy of your site either on a live server or local install is generally a good idea.

I figured it out. I went to "Appearance", then "header". Then it asks to upload an image. I had to FIND the original image for twenty ten, however, by searching for "twenty ten" theme. not sure why they arbitrarily changed it.

    Thank you.

  6. Glad you're all set.
