This is the answer to getting a really modern look for a wordpress site. The developer has a gist that you can use to make tiles static: say you want your logo to ALWAYS appear in one place. We only use it on pages, so this is how you use it:

Create a wptiles-page.php using the gist. When you create a page that you want to be static, you use the ‘custom fields’ dropdown on the page, selecting tile-position and entering the number for the tile to be static to the right. For example, if it is the third tile, you’ll want the number 3. You’ll need to put an image in ‘featured image’ if you want a picture to show up.

When you create a page using wp-tiles, you will need to use the ‘page attributes’ to select the template ’tiles-page’. If you don’t pick this, wp-tiles works, but won’t show your static tiles. This is great if you want the static tiles to appear on some pages but not on others.

    That’s it.
