Ever since I upgraded to WordPress 3.1.2, I have experienced 404 error messages going into my own blog. It turns out that when I type in my blog URL (or any other page / post, for that matter), there are a few times that a random text string is inserted.
When I type:
http://www.davaobase.com
I once got redirected to:
http://www.davaobase.com/rWtd90
Even in my admin pages:
http://www.davaobase.com/blog/wp-admin/
It gets redirected to something random, such as:
http://www.davaobase.com/OVelZ/blog/wp-admin/
Is this a bug in WordPress 3.1.2?
Help will be greatly appreciated.
There's no known bug of this type in 3.1.2. Have you tried:
- deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
- switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

davaobase, I have seen the same phenomenon with the random string in the url. Did you find out the cause?
When I use a proxy, the problem no longer seems to express itself.
