Using the 2014 theme and can’t to get the random header image function to work. I uploaded four images; each works individually as a header image, but if I change it to random, it results in a blank header space with a small “?” icon.

I’ve tried deleting all the images and reloading them; they are all the right size (1260 x 240).

    Any help appreciated.

  • Can we see the site using one of the “missing” random images?

    Here’s the link:

I’ll keep like that for a little while but will need to revert to static header later.

If you check out the urls for these random images, you will see:

    Not Found

The requested URL /Wordpressest/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/cropped-A-ceterach-Ox-3-lr.jpg was not found on this server.

Not the path – WordPressest not WordPress test. I think you have a url issue. Did you move or try to change the site urls at any point? Why do you have a space in the name of the sub-folder where WordPress is installed?

Interesting. I know the space is an issue – when I originally created it as a test site I entered the title with a space without realising it would replicate that in the url. I later compounded the problem by trying to change the url directly in the dashboard. Managed to retrieve things from the resulting disaster but haven’t yet had the courage to try again (doing it the proper way).
Should I try to fix the url issue and then see what happens?

Well that won’t have helped. I’d suggest re-naming the folder to just wordpress and then following Changing_The_Site_URL for details of how to change the urls to http://www.rogergolding.co.uk/wordpress without logging in.

Great. I’ll try that and report back.

Wonderful. That worked – I’ve changed the URL and now the random image header is working fine.
    Many thanks
