• Hello-
I’ve been on WP for about 3 years. I just ran some updates on the widgets and they all were successful updates. Then, I just went to my website http://www.CareerCoaching360.com and it shows the following:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/content/s/l/t/slthomas/html/wp-content/plugins/zemanta/zemanta.php on line 39

Any suggestions on how to get my site/blog back up…?

    Many thanks!
    Sherri 🙂

  • Go to your hosting account, find your wp installation, then:

    wp-content/plugins/zemanta

delete the zemanta folder. It’s update has a serious bug or conflict with another plugin and or it’s update.

Hey Thanks Deepbevel! Appreciate your recommendation. Unfortunately, I cannot even get to my hosting account. When I try to log into my WordPress account I get a blank page with this statement… “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/content/s/l/t/slthomas/html/wp-content/plugins/zemanta/zemanta.php on line 39”

My WordPress login link is: http://careercoaching360.com/wp-login.php

I’ve cleared all of my computer’s cookies – but that didn’t help. Not sure how to delete the zemanta folder when I cannot get into my account.

    Any suggestions…?

    Many thanks!
    Sherri

If there’s another way I’d love to know myself. Not havning access to your site because of a plugin conflict isn’t incredibly uncommon with wordpress. You definately need a way to get to your installation, or install and test wp locally before publishing.

Deepbevel didn’t mean your WordPress website account, they were referring to your actual hosting account that you signed up with so that you could have a blog whether that be GoDaddy, HostGator, BlueHost, etc.

You will need to log into your web host’s control panel (if they provide one) or log in through FTP and modify the /zemanta/ plugin folder name in order to “deactivate” the plugin and hopefully get your site working again.

    Hey Sherri!

Extremely sorry for your problems. Would you be interested in having a Skype chat where we can try and solve your problem?

    Email me at rok.pregelj@zemanta.com please!

    Thanks!
    Rok

What if you can’t log in through FTP? I’m having same issue from a plug-in. Everything is down. Cannot get in. Thank you!

can you access your wp installation folder through ftp? You need to delete the plugin from the plugins folder.
