    Hi,

    One of the nice things about the raindrops theme is, that it has a color scheme that I can select.
    Now i am quite happy with the colors.

    I only want to change/set the color for links (the header menu, menu-header ?) of the menu on top.
    Here is a picture of the menu: screenshot_raindrops_question2.png

    I don't want the link to be red on a:hover (i would prefer grey like my sidebar menu)
    and also the general link color i would like to change to a shade of grey.

    My color settings in the raindrops child theme are these:
    Color scheme: www
    base color: gainsboro
    color type: light

    sorry for so many questions!
    have a nice day

    I tried putting this into the style.css and it did not help:

    .menu-header ul li a{
            text-decoration: none;
            color: #A4A4A4;
    }

    .menu-header ul li a:hover{
            text-decoration: none;
            color: #6E6E6E;
    }

    Can you post a link to your site?

    This is the css that is setting the red color in the original raindrops template:

    .raindrops-tab-list li, #access .children li, #access a:hover

    Specifying an id takes precedence over a class in css, so try this in your css:

    #access .menu a:hover {
        text-decoration: none;
        color: #6e6e6e;
    }

    Hi, and thanks for the quick response.

    Here is a link to the site: http://www.odyssee-mwz.at/wp-index.php

    I tried searching for "red" in the style.css and could not find entrys that looked relevant to me.
    So i assumed that maybe these things are set in the lib/csscolor.css.php and i was looking a bit through that file, but so far without success.

    Thanks for the code you suggested to try out. I already tested it, but it didn't change the appearance.
    Oh and i did not know about the precedence, good to know.

    Cheers

    Hi MrSlartibartfast

    Please add below style rule in your child theme style.css

    #access .children:hover > a,
    #access li:hover > a,
    #access ul ul :hover > a {
    	color:#6E6E6E;
    }

    Thank you

    Hi Nobita,

    I added your code, but the links in the header-menu where still red after that!
    I tried adding the "!important"-tag in your code, but that also did not help.

    What works now is that I added to the a:hover the line with color and an "!important":

    a:hover{
    text-decoration:none!important;
    color: #6E6E6E!important;

    BUT with this i define it for every link and not just for the ones of the header menu.

    Hi MrSlartibartfast

    Thank you for trying a style rule

    I am sorry for the ability whether a style rule is applied and not to hold a cause.

    I checked the style sheet of your 'raindrops child'.

    Note
    Raindrops detect child theme and autoload parent theme style.css.

    Child style.css is not need import parent style.css.

    I'm try on child theme

    /*
    Theme Name: 	raindrops simple child
    Description: Test Child theme style rule issue
    Author: 		nobita
    Version: 		0.1
    Tags:			translation-ready
    Template:		raindrops
    */
    /* works appropriate */
    #access .children:hover > a,
    #access li:hover > a,
    #access ul ul :hover > a {
    	color:#6E6E6E;
    }
    /* works appropriate */
    a:hover{
    text-decoration:none!important;
    color: #6E6E6E!important;}

    Add @import url("../raindrops/style.css"); or not
    Same results
    browser chrome 19.0
    Thank you

    hi Nobita,

    Thank you for looking at it!

    I have cleaned my raindrops-child style.css and taken away the import rule for the stylesheet.

    It works now fine with your style rule!
    browser firefox 10.0.2
    Maybe i had to many other rules copied that where conflicting with it or overwriting the settings - i don't know exactly, but it works now.

    Thank you.
