ERROR - "Unable to create directory /hermes/web01/b1335/moo.jbhurley63/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?"
This directory already exists, and I am able to add files to this location via http://ftp... so I assume I have an issue with permissions... any ideas
Try setting the chmod on the uploads folder to 666. If that doesn't work, try 766 or 777.

well... I tired 666 and now the "03" folder has vanished... along with all of my media that was in it...
Chmod isn't a WordPress admin setting. It's a Linux file permission setting that you can usually change via your FTP client.
If a sub-directory 'vanished' after you changed it's chmod/permissions, you may need to check the configuration within your FTP client to make it 'visible' again. It is still there.
