Quick Cache and IMSC Rapid Mailer - cache pages not generated (7 posts)

I believe I've found a conflict between IMSC Rapid Mailer and Quick Cache.

If I have IMSC Rapid Mailer enabled then Quick Cache doesn't seem to be able to generate NEW cache pages. If there is a page already in the cache then Quick Cache will serve it up. But if the page doesn't exist, it won't create a new cache image of it.

I base this on looking at the bottom of the page source for the Quick Cache text.

If Rapid mailer is enabled and I go to a new page, that page never has the cache indications in it and nothing I do seems to get the page cache created.

But if I visit the page with Rapid Mailer disabled, then I see the cached page indicators. I can then enable Rapid Mailer and visit the page and I still see the cached page indicators. So that is telling me that with Rapid Mailer enabled, new cache pages will not be created, but any previously existing pages will be served.

So how do we determine who has the problem / conflict? I certainly am not qualified to look at it to determine what / who has the issue.

BTW...(I know off topic) it would be really neat if there was some type of indicator that would display on a web page that there is a cached page available. The WP administrator could enable that for everyone or just administrators. There could be a little green bulb or QC displayed on some corner of the page that would show there is a cached page served, and a yellow one indicating that a cached page is available, but not being served. That way we wouldn't have to keep switching to view source to see if the caching is working.

Thank you for the report, Norm.

Regarding IMSC Rapid Mailer: It looks like that's a premium plugin, so there's not much I can do as far as testing. You might want to contact the IMSC Rapid Mailer plugin developers and explain the issue with Quick Cache. They might be able to make some changes that make it compatible.

If I can somehow get my hands on a copy of the plugin, I can do my own tests. Otherwise, as it's a premium plugin, testing would require purchasing it.

Great idea! I've opened a feature request here: https://github.com/WebSharks/Quick-Cache/issues/125

Hi Raam... thannks for the feedback and comments.

You are right, Rapid Mailer is a premium plugin. I have a developers license to it so I could create a brand new WP installation, install it on the site, and give you admin access to the whole thing. Would that be sufficient to get you to look at it?

I have opened a ticket with the vendor also, but have not had a response yet (they state they are backlogged right now.)

    Hi Norm,

If you'd like to setup a separate installation for me to test, I'll try to take a look sometime this week. If you could, please submit the login details via a private trouble ticket here: https://www.websharks-inc.com/support/?product=quick-cache&request_type=trouble_ticket&token=129805zlq79x (link expires in 48 hours).

    Hi Norm,

Thanks for submitting the info for the sandbox site. Unfortunately when I logged in and attempted to look at the code for the IMSC Rapid Mailer plugin, I discovered that the code for that plugin has been encrypted using Ion Cube. That means it's impossible for me to diagnose this issue, as I have no way of looking at what code might be conflicting with Quick Cache.

I recommend contacting the IMSC Rapid Mailer developers and asking them to add support for Quick Cache. All of the Quick Cache source code is open source and available.
