   I have been getting a large number of registrations to my site from sites ending in .ru or from a gawab.com address (a free email site). They are not leaving messages but just registering. Most are with undeliverable email addresses. Should I be concerned?

   yes you should be concerned as these are likely going to turn into hack attempts

   So would it be reasonable to remove them as users? What else should I do?

   yes - remove them
   check all index files for strange code
