Question about permalinking

I have a very specific problem that I hope someone can help me out with. I’ve looked over many, many threads here about permalinking but my situation seems more specific then what I am finding.

I have WordPressMU and Buddypress installed on my domain. They run completely fine, but I noticed after adding enough content to generate a link to page 2 it replies that there is no page 2.

The odd thing is all the other permalinks works completely fine. Also odd is the second page will display if I go into the permalinks option and set it to default.

I have some ideas as to why it isn’t working but am not sure how to fix it. I’ve edited my htaccess file and added a username.conf file (seen in another thread).

Any ideas as to how I should get this working? Is there a simple string I should add to my htaccess that will get the page permalinks working?

I realize now I’ve posted this in the wordpress support and not wordpressmu support. Well, could that make this problem react different?

Alas, What are the files/codes I should check into?
