Question about index.php vs index.html

Hi guys!

I know this is a basic question, but I’m stumbling my way around WordPress while learning the basics.

I installed WordPress on my host and got everything running. I see, however, that if I want to check my new blog, I need to tell my browser to visit /blog/index.php — is there a way I can have it changed so that people merely visit /blog/ and not the former?
