  • Is this like UTW’s “Suggest A Tag” feature that uses some Yahoo! web service?

    > What do you think of this idea? (from your blog post)

hmm..So what you are suggesting is letting the keywords that are used to find a particular post define the post’s tags?

I see a lot of problems with that, especially when it comes to multiple keywords. You might be surprised how obscure some things are that bring people to your site — or maybe not, if you are like me, and pay very close attention to your logs.

I’m not sure I would want those items as tags, either.

In fact, given that logic, you may as well tag every ‘important’ word in a post. I just, today, saw a hit to a post and the keyword was “me”. 🙂

I don’t think that would make a good tag.

Tags are, ultimately, there for you to organize content. It would seem to me that allowing search keywords to define your tags would dilute them and render them meaningless, over time.

if you are interested, take a look at the Zeitgeist on my site, those are all search queries, many are taken completely out of context (1 post has one word, another might have 1 more, etc..).

I certainly would NOT want to tag my content based on that.

whooami: yes I am like you (I pay very close attention to my log :D).

I don’t think that “you may as well tag every ‘important’ word in a post” because I think that statistic would do its job over the keywords used.

Your zeitgeist is interesting… and about the “out of context” (I wrote about them on my post as “false positives”) I suggested an initial answer.

You “certainly would NOT want to tag my content based on that” but I think it could be very interesting to try it 🙂

    Thank you.
