Putting forum on Sub-Domain or Main Domain? (4 posts)

1.) Is there an advantage to installing a forum on a completely separate subdomain? So something like http://forums.MyDomain.com/
I have noticed other people doing this.

2.) Are there any issues with integrating forums like Simple Press or BBPress with my WordPress Blog if it is on a separate subdomain?

    Thank you.

Usually separate subdomains will point to the same server just in a different folder. So forums.mydomain.com may just be mydomain.com/forums in reality.
    1) Often sites have a landing page and site with all the information, and then a forum seperately, then yes this is an advantage. If however your entire site is a forum them just put it at mydomain.com.

    2) I have no clue about wordpress but as stated, each subdomain is usually just a pointer to a different folder, so it shouldnt cause any problems integrating them(well providing you can in the first place).

How is it an advantage to setting up the landing page and forum separately though?

    Thanks!
