Putting flash swf in Header (11 posts)

    Hey all :)

    Sorry to bother you guys with all my questions, but how would I add a flash swf in the header? I don't want anything else up there, just the Flash swf banner which is like 700px wide by 165 high. Would I do it in css or the header.php? Either way what is the coding that I'm supposed to put in?

    Thanks :)

    #header { background: url("http://www.yourdomain.com/blog/images/header.swf") no-repeat bottom center; }

    hey :)

    Thanks for the advice but that didn't really work ;) After a couple cups of coffee this morning I rememberd that .swf files are read as objects. So I went into the header.php file replaced the bottom part...

    this:
    <body>
    <div id="rap">
    <h1 id="header">"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></h1>
    <div id="content">
    <!-- end header -->

    with this:
    <body>
    <div id="rap">
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="700" height="132">
    <param name="movie" value="http://missm.djcrackman.net/wp-content/themes/classic/snow.swf">
    <param name=quality value=high>
    <embed src="http://missm.djcrackman.net/wp-content/themes/classic/snow.swf" quality=high pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="700" height="132"></embed>
    </object>
    <div id="content">
    <!-- end header -->

    It's basically just adding the .swf into a normal HTML page, except the file ends in .php instead of .htm... Funny I didn't think of it before :)

    But thank you!

    Oh one more thing... I had to make sure my padding was the height of the swf (132 px). Well half actually ;)

    #header {
    background: #000;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0px 0px 66px 0px;
    }

    I have read through all the posts I could find on inserting flash into my blog header. The flash only shows up as a white box. Does anyone know how to get flash to work a wordpress weblog?

    jaredkc, i did what ILostMyDream said (btw, thanks for the great help, pal) and it works. The only thing u need to do in order to avoid the white box is to write the absolut path for the file, not only the usual images/file.swf path.

    It will be something like this: http://www.yourwebsite/wordpress/wp-content/themes/urthemename/images/file.swf

    Hey there... Just trying to put my swf file into my WP header and having problems. I see to put the object code within the actual header page -- which I did. And I also put the full URL to the flash sorce as the person above mentioned but I still cannot get my flash to work. I just get a big white spot where the flash should be.

    What am I doing wrong? :-(
