Put 'Latest Category Post' on the Menu

Is there a way to link to the latest post in a category directly from the menu?

The PHP code from Andrew on previous forum thread works as a hyperlink but I can’t use it in the Menu settings.

I have an idea to put a dummy page on the menu, then embed the latest post within the dummy page. Would this be the simplest way? If so, what code would I use to embed the page?
