Pulling info from my blog to multiple locations (12 posts)

    So I have been reading and reading and reading some more about RSS Feeds, pulling data from WP and now I am just confused.

    I guess it would be easiest to try and explain what I am trying to do then go from there.

    http://www.foxvalleyshows.com/new/shows.htm

    On this page you will see the main shows section in the middle and a smaller box on the left with Coming Soon!

    I basically want to use WP to show listings in the Coming Soon! area. That particular section will be on almost all of my pages. I don't want to use an IFrame (as that is frowned upon by the search engines) and I would rather have the information dynamically generated by WP if possible.

    I thought about using some "include" type tags to pull the data I want but the more I look into it the more confused I get.

    Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get started with this? I hate asking but my brain is starting to go numb...

    Thanks again in advance:)

    Just make coming soon it's own category.
    You create a div for the section, and then use the get_posts tag
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/get_posts
    as it doesn't require the loop.
    You could use an RSS feed for the cat, but I think the get_posts might be a better option.
    I'm assuming the link you provided is a previous version of your site, and you are looking at adapting that to WP?

    I have the WP named Upcoming Shows and that is where I want the source of my information to be, then I just want that information dynamically posted under the Upcoming Shows portion of the link I gave you. Does that make sense?

    Ok I just made the category and will play around with what you suggested. If you have any other thoughts that could be useful please let met know as they are much appreciated...

    Great that worked awesome, at least for right now. But how do I have the information get pulled twice on the same page?

    I created the "Upcoming Shows" category as you suggested but I don't see anywhere in the Loop where it asks me what category I want to pull from. Look here:

    http://www.foxvalleyshows.com/new/shows.php

    I would like to have "Upcoming Shows" on the left displayed as well as having it listed on the right too but with more options there. You'll see that I took our some of the links and other stuff for leaving comments, etc... on the left as its not needed. But I may want to keep that information on the right.

    This is only an issue for that one page so far as the other pages I may just update myself on the actual page and not through WP. Follow me?

    The worst case scenario would be that I would have to update WP for the left side and manually do the other pages, but I am trying to automate the site as much as possible with WP.

    Which is the solution that worked?
    For having multiple Loops - check out the Codex:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop
    (especially the Multiple Loops section) and also

    The one that worked was the link you sent me that had that really nice tutorial:

    I'll work with the multiple loop section soon...

    Thanks again for everything thus far:)

    Is there an easy way to pull one CATEGORY in WP on the left and a different one on the right?

    I am using this code for the main section in which I would like to pull the info from my News Category in my WP:

    <?php rewind_posts(); ?>
    <?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

    <?php query_posts('category_name=news_cat'); ?>

    <?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
    <!-- Do special_cat stuff... -->
    <?php endwhile;?>

    <?php endwhile;?>

    I'm getting there!

    Actually that isn't what I was looking for, so if anyone has some ideas on my previous post that would be great:)
