• I created a new page and published it. I also created a sub page to got with it.
when I choose: see page from the dashboard/pages, The page is visible. But when I go to the site independently, it does not show in the menu.
I have marked each page in the order I want. PLus the sub page is set with the new main page as a parent.

Is wp having trouble right now? I tried entering this question several ways and nothing came up. Just said “loading”.
I have never had this problem before.
I did however, just install the latest version of wp

  • Maybe you have custom menus set. Try going to appearance->menus and adding the page there.

ok, I went to appearance>menus and have the pages activated. but one is a sub page and shows up as a main page. i chose the parent category on the page. I don’t know why I have a custom menu set up.
Maybe I don’t need it? What is the point? thanks for responding so soon.

If you do have custom menus enabled, you can put a page under a sub page by dragging it beneath and to the right of the top level page. The point of custom menus is just to give more control over the pages than the default. If you are posting your art tutorials, i’d recommend considering making a category instead of pages if you are going to be posting a lot of them.

I thought it would be best, cohesive, to put a page for tutorials as the main page where a list of tutorials are offered (on the sub pages). Right now I have a page named Tutorials, with a sub page titled: Name tutorial #1.
I probably won’t have more than 5. It’s not a big focus of mine.
How does a category differ? I have not worked with categories.

another question: the avatar showing here for me, is not the avatar i have on my profile. ??

another question: When I open the home page, it lands on the top of the photo rather than the header. Can I change that? I was told by a friendly critic that my menu is not noticeable because it is all the way on the top of the header and it is small. So I put a list of pages on the right column.

Category is just a way to organize your posts. If you aren’t going to do a lot of tutorials, making pages is probably fine. I don’t know if there is a way to change the avatar. When I visit the site, for me it shows up at the top of the page so it looks like it is working, might be a browser setting or something.
