I’m wondering if there’s a way to create a custom text field for each social network you push out to – per post? So for example, you write a post, and then can specify what gets pushed to FB, then change what gets pushed to TW [with their 140 char limit]. Each would be a text field, maybe underneath the main text window for the post.

    Thanks!

Looking at the code, I don’t believe it is currently possible to get a default message per social network. You can change the default message (that is used for all) using the wpas_default_message filter, I believe, but doesn’t appear to be a way to change it based on the connection.

To ensure I’m on the same page, you’d wanting to see a way to customize per post each post’s description? e.g. a quasi-automated way to custom share to each network instead of manually sharing once the post is published?

Exactly – I really like the wpas_default_message filter function that’s currently built in. But because of, for example, Twitter’s 140 character limitation, the pushes [description] could use a bit of tidying up.

When writing a Blog Post it would be awesome to have text fields underneath the main text body for each SM profile that’s being pushed out to, so that a custom post can be created right in WP instead of on the platforms. Customization of what fields appear could be great too, in the case of someone having a lot of SM platforms.

I’m looking to streamline my pushes. Copying and pasting into text fields takes less time than doing it manually on each platform.

    Thanks for answering btw.

Sounds good. We don’t have a timeline (or sure if we’re going this route or not), but we’re tracking enhancing Publicize’s messages via https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/261

    Cheers!
