Hi all,
I have created a number of private pages on my blog, because I do not want them visible in the sidebar menu under the 'Pages' section. I have created links to these private pages from the 'Workshops' page, which is public, however when you click on any of these links, the page displays an 'Error 404 - Not Found' message.
I tried making the page public, which made the page accessible, but obviously listed it in the sidebar which I don't want, as there are about 28 of these private pages all with long page titles!
Can anyone help resove? The link to the Workshops page on my blog is http://www.travelphotography.org.uk/workshops
Many thanks
Andrew
Andrew,
Private pages are meant to not be accessible by anyone but you. To accomplish what you want, I would suggest making the 27 pages children of a main parent page, and then setting your sidebar to only list top level pages, instead of a hierarchy of pages.
A page set to private is just that - private, as in only accessible by you.
If you don't want the pages to show up in the sidebar, you could nest them under the Workshops page. It will change the link to /workshops/page-url or whatnot. I don't know if that would be an issue for you.
Aside from that the only other thing I know you could do to hide them is to create your own sidebar links.

Hi Tammy,
Thanks for the advice. How do I set the sidebar to only list top level pages, instead of a hierarchy of pages?
Thanks
Andrew
Andrew,
Are you using a widget, or is this just the code in the sidebar displaying the pages?
You'll want to set it to depth=1
