    Hello,

I’m using the Paid Membership Pro version 1.7.1 and have Paypal Express set to Sandbox. After Making the payment using my sandbox account within Paypal, I’m redirected to the confirmation page and I click the “Complete Payment” button. It sends me back to the Checkout page with a message that says “Profile Description is invalid”. I saw a prior issue with this, but supposedly this issue was addressed in the 1.4.4 patch. My versions are relatively up to date. Any idea on what is possibly going on? My site is accessible from http://fwk.namwebdev.com/

Something like this was fixed in a recent update. Try upgrading to the latest version.

Is there an update for the 1.7.7? I looked and did not see anything else. I am receiving the same error as mentioned above and am not sure how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

bcdinner, to be clear are you running 1.7.7 and getting that error?

There are a few things that can cause this error, perhaps there is a related bug.

Can you share as much information as possible about your membership level? Name, pricing, etc and we can try to reproduce this on our dev setup.

Yes we are currently running the 1.7.7.

We downloaded the plugin for Paid Memberships Pro.
We are currently using PayPal’s free Express checkout though we are looking into PayPal standard.

    Here is our website: http://bcdinners.com

We have a business paypal account. All of our 9 memberships are $5 a month and each is a different type of meal plan/serving size. We do currently have an ssl with the info is plugged in though I know express does not require it.

A video you did showed/said that a module needed to be added for recurring payments – where would I find this.

At this time visitors fill out the initial info, they are taken to paypal where they need to create and account with paypal and then they are returned to our site. When confirm is clicked we get the error info about the “Profile Description is Invalid”

Are you still using the sandbox account? I just tried a few of the test card numbers here: http://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/vhelp/paypalmanager_help/credit_card_numbers.htm with no success.

    Jessica,

We upgraded to pro and when I spoke with PayPal and ran a check with my credit card we were successful. Another person ran the card successfully as well. What happened when you ran the test number at the link above? I tried one of them (a visa) and it said declined.

I just tried 4111111111111111 and 4012888888881881 which timed out and were declined, respectively. However these numbers only work when the sandbox PayPal account is being used, and it looks like you changed it if there were successful transactions.

The quickest way to enable the module Jason was mentioning is simply by contacting PayPal https://www.paypal.com/webapps/helpcenter/helphub/home/ and have them do it for you – since they changed the interface, we haven’t been able to find it.

The module you want them to enable is the “Recurring Payment Module”.

    Hope that helps!

    Marking this as resolved.
