Product and content area

Had someone build my site and having trouble adding new spaces for more product. I also cannot add content next to some of the products as it will not let me type in that area. I know that there is something to do with adding more tags to create more area but I need instructions from somewhere or someone. Any ideas where to look or what to do . HELP!!! Thanks.
