I have a question about how you work on modifying a theme without jacking your site up. What is the best way to do this. Copy the theme and modify the copy and switch back and forth? Or try to setup a duplicate test site so you don't mess with your site at all. But then you have to move the new theme to your main site.
I am just curious - what do you experts do?

I edit mine live most of the time! probably not the best way!
Some people set up a local wordpress with a local server install (WAMP, MAMP, XAMPP), its easy, and kind of cool
A test site in a subdirectory is also do-able
switching themes back and forth is quite a pain..... I mean, once you have your theme set up, it takes about a minute to move it to your live site
