• Hi all,

I’m wondering if you’re having problems with your WordPress editor. When I’m in the HTML side the slider on the right continually jumps to the top of my code even when I’m typing at the bottom. The cut and paste function is also copying a lot more data to my clipboard than I’m asking it to and it frequently pastes where I didn’t ask it to.

Are any of you experiencing the same problems?

    Sean

  • Best bet? don’t use it. I just turn it off unless there’s a compelling reason otherwise.

I tend to use the wp-includes/js/quicktags.js file to define tools for formatting content. The html editors tend to add a bunch of crap spans and nested weirdness that is just all too easy for the uneducated editor to even realize they are adding.

You can turn off that feature from the user’s options.

I am relatively new to WP, but I thoroughly dislike the editor. To me, it is a terrible hindrance to getting things the way I want them. The cursor jumps around! Switching between visual and HTML messes things up every time!

I have been coding only in the HTML mode just to get by. That seems like an awful lot of extra work just to get a formatted document.

Version 2.8.6 – that’s a lot of versions not to have a decent editor.

i know this is an old post but i’ve been having this problem for months and it drives me crazy!!!

I found a solution in a different post, in IE8 click the Compatability View button (little ripped paper icon next to address bar). This completely resolved the issue for me, hope it helps all of you, good luck 🙂
