Problems with upload file path in multisite installation (4 posts)

Hi, I have just updated my WP 3.0 multisite installation to 3.0 RC3 and now my new uploaded images won't be uploaded correctly.

Previous they were uploaded to the files folder for the main site and files/blogid for the other sites

Now the main site loads images to wp-content/uploads
    and the other sites to
    /sitename/files

    previous it was files/blogid/

Any idea what went wrong here?

    This is in my .htaccess

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

The settings in wp-config.php are as described on the network page.

  2. The htaccess is not the issue.

Can you give me a link to your site?

    This URL:

    previous it was files/blogid/

never existed. It would have been blog.dir/#/files/year/month/ etc.

Yes, there have been changes as to where the main blog *in an exisiting install* uploads the files. This was so current single WP users didn't have images disappearing on the main blog when they enabled the network.

    Hi Andrea,
thanks for your reply. Yes you are correct ... I mixed up blog ID and files folder. I also understand the reason why the change took place. I am actually having problems with the featured thumbnails only because the theme is now looking for them in wp_contents/uploads/ whereas they are in wp_content/blogs.dir/files/#/... and I cannot access the images via media library because the media library now lists the new link structure whereas the images are still in the files folder.
Anyway these were only 7 images and I reuploaded them so that they show up now.
The other images seem to load correctly. The link to my site is killerthemes.net

  4. The wp_content/blogs.dir/files/#/.. gets rewritten by the htaccess file for display.

Some theme authors are going to have to not hardcode the file uploads folder.
