Problems with inserting Hyperlinks (4 posts)

My site is at http://www.siteguide.us When I insert a hyperlink to a word or phrase using the visual rich editor, without the http:// the link appears in the post as a redirect.

    e.g. I enter a link as example.com (not http://example.com)

Now, in the post, the link appears as http://www.siteguide.us/example.com which does not work, of course.

Is this a bug with WP or is it a different problem..

    Thanks for your time!

My guess is that without the http://, it treats it as a relative link and not an absolute one. Same thing happens when you do that with an anchor tag in normal HTML. So, actually, it's behaving properly and is not a bug.

That's how links are supposed to behave. The http:// is not an optional extra.

Thanks for the replies! It is just that, I assumed that the http:// would automatically precede non-http:// links. I guess that works only in the case of browsers.

    Thanks again!
