Problems with Home page not showing as Front page

Hi

I’m having problems making my front page the same as home page. I have tried deleting all my pages and then started over with making two new pages, each named “home” and “blog”. Then I went to settings > reading and set it as static page with the new home page being front page and blog page being posts page. But this didn’t work…

Anyone who can help please?? I really need this to work since I’m also using the site for my final studies.

note: I do want my front page to keep showing my latest posts. And I just want my home page in the menu bar to show the same as the front page is currently doing.
