[resolved] Problems with downloading site (5 posts)

First, I don't really know what this problem relates to at all. It could be the theme, could be the wordpress, I don't know.

We're having some problems downloading the page in several different browsers. It depends on the mood of the refresh, really. Sometimes it loads the whole page as it should, but sometimes different image elements do not show. These images are both CSS-related images from the /images directory, and images from /uploads.

Every once in a reload, we also get this error:

    "Service unavailable!
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
    Error 503

    Wed Jan 20 11:45:26 2010
    Apache/2.2.14"

I guess I need to mention that allthough we're using "Flash News" theme(from wooThemes), we are also using a child theme called "Flash News Child". We've tried to make as much of our changes as we could in the child theme, but in some files it seemed that we needed to change the original file from the "Flash News"-parent theme.
So, please take a look at the site, and see if it makes any sense at all. Might have to refresh several times to get a bigger perspective of whats wrong.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

That's a server error. Looks like your server is underpowered.

Well. I've talked to my hosting provider support now. They basically said it was their "self-defense"-system which does it.

And that it happens because the page is to heavy. (with php/script I guess).

I've also discovered that decreasing the number of posts on "home" eliminates the problem. So that also supports that theory.

Kind of sad that we'll probably have to make compromizes in how many posts we put on the first page, but if I understand correctly, that's just what we have to do.

Kind of weird though that seemingly noone else has this problem?

You may just need a hosting account with greater resources. I'm not saying your current account is bad, because I don't know the details. You may just need a higher end service because of the resource requirements of your site.

Yes. You might very well be right. Or we might even have to change to a different hosting provider.

    Thanks for your feedback.
