• I have installed my own theme and put all my content for home page into index.php – i think this then stopped me changing content on other pages

I then took out main content from index.php and made a new page home but still doesn’t display

As I am trying to add all my static .html pages into wordpress but keeping a similar file extension .php is this possible ??

Would be really grateful for some feedback

  • Hi there,

Not exactly clear where you’re at in the process.
It sounds like your goal is to take HTML pages and get them into your new WordPress site.

Your best bet is to copy the contents (not the HTML) and paste it into the content area of new WordPress Pages.

    Does that make sense?

    Hi Paul,

Yes but then it won’t keep all the div formats etc. Only the header and footer on each page are the same in terms of div layout – all other pages are different.

    Thanks,

    Dave

You could still paste your html into the content area if you use one of these plugins that will not trounce your content:
    a. http://www.matteoionescu.com/wordpress/embed-html/
    b. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/raw-html/

You would ideally have your header and footer in the WordPress theme header.php and footer.php file, and then put the guts of your HTML pages into WordPress pages.

Yes I am using HTML import now – which seems to be working ok now thanks Paul
