Problems with child theme (3 posts)

    I have been trying to create a new child theme from the standard twenty twelve child as I want to change font style and colour. I've created a child file and put the following in the style.css:

    /*
    Theme Name: Twenty Twelve Child
    Description: Child theme for the Twenty Twelve theme
    Author: Sharon Smyth
    Author URI: http://www.honestyandhumour.com
    Template: twentytwelve
    Version: 0.1.0
    */
    @import url("../twentytwelve/style.css");

    I haven't yet added any changes to the font as I wanted to check that it inherited the parent theme first. It doesn't!

    What am I doing wrong? I am new to wordpress so am sure it's something simple, but I can't find it!

    Please help!

    Did you click to activate the child theme ?

    What's the folder (directory) name of your child theme ? Does it contain space in it ?

    as I wanted to check that it inherited the parent theme first. It doesn't!

    It could also be that child theme already works, but it doesn't carry over the header/background image, or some theme settings that need to reset again and that make you feel like it didn't work.

    There was a space in the directory name - I've taken that out and it's worked.

    Thank you!
