   (copy of post also entered on BuddyPress.org support)
   I have a new site (http://awarenessmatters.org) I just started with a fress WP install and BuddyPress. The goal is to have a community centered around different topic-specific blogs.
   When I go to the main page, I cannot get groups, activity, forums, etc., and nowhere to create new groups, etc.
   I have attempted to reinstall bbpress, as well as the full BuddyPress plugin.
   WP itself is working fine. I can create users, sites, and manage everything without a problem.
   My data tables all appear to be complete and appropriate, no duplicates, but no datas is being entered by BP, I guess.
   I did enable multi-site for BP in the WP config as suggested with no change. I’ve tried several themes, all BP compatible, including BP default.

   Please help! I’ve never had this problem before, although this is my first experience with WPMU.

   My mistake...it is not WPMU, it is just network-enabled.

   you do not have pretty permalinks enabled with mod_rewrite. this is a *requirement* for BuddyPress to work and specific to their forums.

   I have permalinks set to year/month/day/name. Is there somewhere else I need to make a change?

   Yes, on the server.

   Best thing to do is ask your webhost.
