Problems uploading files, what host features need? (4 posts)

I have problems in uploading files, whether with 2.0 or 1.5 release.
I get the following error message:
Fatal error: imagecreatetruecolor(): requires GD 2.0 or later in /home/sites/site492/web/myblog/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 742

What should I require to my host? Is there any solutions enabling myself to fix it without any intervention from hosting provider?
    thanks

It's fixable, with a few hacks and slashes, but the easier route would be to ask your server to upgrade or install the GD library for PHP.

  3. GD is used to create images with PHP, i.e. thumbnails and such.

Yeah, but look, the error contains a GD specific error, and heck I even see the GD function. I didn't realise WP used it though.
