Hi!
I'm trying to make my blog private, but I'm having problems. I've read this related post from the support pages: http://support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
But (I don't know why), I cannot see the third option "I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose".
Anyone knows why this happens? Must I install a special version of WordPress? Or a plugin?
Thanks for your help and time!
Jordi
Is this a wordpress.com blog or a self-hosted WordPress blog?

Same here. Mine is what you call "self-hosted" , I suppose, using WP 2.8.1.
There are only 2 native Privacy options on a self-hosted WP blog:
1. I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers
2. I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors
Anything more than that requires a plugin.

Thnx.
Found a nice one: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/absolute-privacy/
Might work for you, too, jtost!

I take that back.
Absolute Privacy just made it impossible to login to my site, as FireFox detected an infinite loop it can't resolve.

Hi,
Not sure if anyone will answer this...I can't seem to find the definition of "normal users," as in : "only visible to normal users"
I, unlike most people, want my (self-hosted) site / blog to be ENTIRELY PRIVATE......
So can anybody tell me who are the "normal visitors" who might visit me?
Thanks!
"Normal visitors" would be anyone who access your blog directly. The basic privacy control merely hides your blog from search engines and other bots. If you want even more private, try this plugin:
