I am currently running 5 different WordPress sites/blogs for clients and I find myself unable to log into any of them. When I try I'm getting a strange log in blog which pops up from the browser, rather than the usual WordPress log in window which says:

"A username and password are being requested by http://raeclimbsamountain.org.uk. The site says: "Automatic Protection - Username: protected Password: wordpress | Visit http://www.webhostingstatus.com for more info"

When I type the user name and password in i get:
"The user name or password you entered for this area on raeclimbsamountain.org.uk:80 was incorrect. Make sure you’re entering them correctly, and then try again."

and a message telling me i don't have authorisation. This happens on all 5 sites.

I'm getting exactly the same thing and webhostingstatus.com seems to suggest everything is fine...

    Let's see what happens.

Okay I figured it out. You need to put in "protected" as your username and "password" as your password. This will take you through to the login page.

I think this might be a precautionary measure as WordPress is coming under a bruteforce attack.

that didn't work for me but using [ redacted ] as the password did!

  5. Aaaand now you want to contact your host and tell them to change the password you just posted to the world at large.

See this reply from a minute ago about that.
