   Hey,

   I had a blog successfully with wordpress running on windows web server but when I wanted to use a new theme which needed file permission etc, So I'm forced to change to Unix and completely re-install wordpress from fresh.

   The only problem I'm coming across is that unix seems so much more specific and complex where as windows was more user friendly and had alot of support.

   I'm using streamline.net web hosting.

   Has anyone attempted or successfully installed wordpress on unix and would you mind helping me solve this issue please?

   most folks use unix - that's the usually trouble free install and windows gives problems...

   you don't really say what problem you are having, though

   Ah basically, I'm not sure how to install it. I dont know what SSH is for but is it a straight forward installation for example:

   1. Download WordPress File Zip
   2. Upload Via Ftp
   3. Config database details etc?

   I'm confused because I was using windows web server which was so easy to use but is there anything i should set up with unix before installing wordpress?
