[resolved] Problems importing old wordpress database to WordPress MU, certain HTML removed (10 posts)

I moved my site from a single installation of WordPress hosting multiple sites to WordPress MU (3.0.2) hosting multiple domains. I was able to export the single WP site (12MB) before moving activating WordPress MU and I still have the MySQL database of the single WP.

When I imported the backup XML file, it was able to import the file but it stripped out all HTML code, mainly embed flash video code.

Are other ways of importing the backup XML file without stripping HTML tags?

    Thanks,
    Greg

  2. Yep. It does that.

Add the unfiltered html plugin, then import as super admin.

Or import them right into the db.

Still having problems. Downloaded the Unfiltered MU plugin, had to put the plugin in the /wp-content/plugins as /wp-content/mu-plugins did not recognize the plugin. Deleted all files, activated plugin, imported the file; HTML embed codes still stripped.

Thinking that I had a bad installation, I deleted the site and setup a new one. Uploaded the Unfiltered MU plugin, import the file; HTML tags still stripped.

Is there a step I missed? Is there another way to import the posts with tags still intact?

    Thanks,

You put the plugin *file* in mu-plugins - not the folder like you do in /plugins/.

Does it strip them if you tell it the post author is a super admin?

I did put the file in the mu-plugins folder, did not recognize the file and yes the post author of the posts is a super admin.

Check permissions & stuff. If it is done right, a new link shows up when you look at the Plugins page, with a "must-use" tab.

I'll take a look at the mu-plugins but I found a solution with a step-by-step guide on how to move posts from one DB to another DB and everything shows up correctly.
