    Hi,

I am a pretty big newbie when it comes to this stuff and I really only learn enough to get me to the next step, so bear with me.

I have created a website locally using MAMP on my mac. I am ready to move it to the live server. I have created a database on my webhost (Network Solutions) and have uploaded all the files and folders to the server via FTP. When I go to mysite.com/wp-admin, I choose to delete my Wp-config.php so that I can create one via their prompts. I enter in all the data, enter, and I get back

"All right sparky! You've made it through this part of the installation. WordPress can now communicate with your database. If you are ready, time now to…"

awesome, I get excited. I click "Run the Install" and immediately get:

    "Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at mysqlv101. This could mean your host's database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums."

what gives? why did it work a second before but not now? Please please I appreciate any help, as the site is for someone who is paying me and they need it live very soon (like yesterday).

    Thanks!!!

When the setup first runs no DB connection is required, so I suspect that one or more of your database name, username or password is incorrect.

One thing to look out for with hosts is that you sometimes have a prefix before your db name and you username. I.e. if your account username is 'abc123' then your db name would likely be 'abc123_websitelive' rather than just 'websitelive'. Same with the username.
