just downloaded a couple of updates for my wordpress plugins and as soon as i was done i got this message:
Fatal error: Class 'jwl_PHP_Code_Widget' not found in /home/content/95/8649795/html/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 324
and now i cannot access my wordpress blog/site. Can anyone please help me resolve this issue?

I did the same just a few minutes ago. I updated two plugins. Ultimate-tinymce and Wysija.
All I can see is the dashboard plugin page with the updated plugins showing. However when I click out to any other section including my log out button this is the message - Fatal error: Class 'jwl_PHP_Code_Widget' not found in /home/xxxxxxxxxx/public_html/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 324

I am a newbie to this, but can find my way round with some help.

Thanks loads to anyone who can help.

    Hey thanks very much Ipstenu.
    That worked.
Would you mind telling me what was the problem and do I need to do anything to that plugin now?

    Thanks very much again.

The plugin got broken, that's all. You can try uploading a fresh copy, though, since I KNOW http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/php-code-widget/ hasn't been updated in months (and it's very stable).
