[resolved] Problems accessing Settings, Plugins etc after domain name change (5 posts)

    Hi guys!

I'm in the process of re-building a WordPress website. I've taken a copy of the website, including tables, and "cloned" it on another server.

I'm using an alternate URL, which features a sub-domain, and I did a search and replace on the .sql file replacing the actual domain name with mine.

All appeared to be fine, but once I'm signed in, I can't access certain parts of WordPress, such as Plugins and Settings, nor can I update it.

I've done this before and all went fine, but that was a few versions ago.

Any ideas what I did wrong?

When you do a search & replace on the sql export file, replaceing anything stored within serialized data can cause problems.

It might be better to use the search & replace tool from interconnect/it:

Okay, I've tried this and after the search and replace, I'm experiencing the same problems. Any ideas?

    Hi, everything's fine now, thanks!

The upload hadn't been a complete success, which is why some of the files weren't loading. I may have got the process right the first time around, but I'll never know.
