Can you paste the full error message that you get, please? There should be some “Error Details.”

That is the only error. I copies again to make sure this is waht I get:

Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host.Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)

    Is what is the solution?
Because I’m having the same problem

    This is the message

Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host. SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate in certificate chain

Ran into the same problem. A solution is here http://www.tpateman.co.uk/reboot/error-activating-jetpack-plugin/ but I would hope the plugin author would build in a workaround. Seems like a PHP 5.4 cert validation function believes the SSL from wordpress.com isn’t valid.

@stefann This error message will appear when your site isn’t able to make verified HTTPS requests to WordPress.com. When you see this error when trying to connect Jetpack to your WordPress.com account, could you please try installing the Jetpack Compatibility Plugin so we can see some additional information from your site?

    1) Download the plugin from http://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/jetpack/branches/jetpack-compatibility-test.zip
    2) Upload the plugin to your site via Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add New.
    3) Activate the plugin and go to Plugins -> Jetpack Compatibility Test.
    4) Click the “Select All” button.
    5) Send us the test results via this contact form:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service

    Thanks!
