Problem with special characters on Explorer and Firefox

    Hi,

    it’s not a problem with the latest version of WordPress. I noticed this issue in january already. All little symbols/icons e.g. for social media links or the post type are exchanged in small rectangles with an narrow hexa decimal code inside (firefox) or even not shown (internet explorer). Both browsers are always updated well and running in the current newest version.

    I suppose it has something to do with UTF-8, german language and google fonts, but wonder, why it works on Safari, Chrome and Opera.

    Any idea?
