Problem with slider images (6 posts)

    HI,

I have a problem with the slider: some pictures are automatically cropped and resized in a large format and one of the ends up upside down...I have no idea why...
I read that the best size for the pictures is 1170x500 so I guess the cropped thing is because of the size but the upside down thing?

Anyone tried to dive into the code to change the pic size?

    Here's my site btw http://pharmacie-vezere.com/

    Thanks :)

I saved the image to my Desktop, and it is actually upside-down. So you need a picture editor (eg Photoshop) to rotate it 180 degrees.

I'd recommend that you use same editor to standardise the dimensions of your banner images. Makes the slider look so much better.

    Thanks for your answer!
Well that's weird because when I see it on the media gallery, it's normal, in the Windows 8 gallery it looks normal too, it's only when I put it online that it's upside down...But I'll try to edit it again

What do you mean by standardise? If I resize the images at 1170x500 as advised it doesn't look so good, it's stretched :s

"standardise" = all the same size.

    it's stretched :s

If you have a square-ish image, then you need to resize the image to 1170px wide, maintaining the aspect ratio (i.e. let the program decide the height) and then use the crop function to crop it to 1170x500.

If you have a very wide image, then you need to resize the image to 500px high, maintaining the aspect ratio (i.e. let the program decide the width) and then use the crop function to crop it to 1170x500.

Okay thanks I get it!So my pictures will inevitably be cropped?
There's something really weird with these pictures (my client's) when I see them in overview some are upside down, but when I open them wide they're normal ...I thought there was something happening with the theme, but that must be the pictures then!

It depends what software you're using to view them. Some programs remember that a particular photo needs to be rotated when they show it to you, but they don't actually rotate the original.
