• As you can see here, anywhere I have a ‘ I get a strange ?. I added the content with it inside index.php of my theme. Is there any way to get rid of them? Thank you!

  • Yes. First of all do not write content in a word processor and then try to paste it directly into the WordPress post/page editor. If you must use a word processor to write text then always copy the text to the clipboard, paste it into Notepad (assuming that you use Windows – if not then some other plain text editor), THEN recopy it to the clipboard from the plain text editor and then paste it into the WordPress editor.

By doing that you’ll strip out all the wacky characters.

Or you could just load Firefox browser to write posts in WordPress since Firefox has a pretty good spell checker built right in 🙂

I DID use Word but I just tried pasting the first paragraph from word to notepad to my theme and the problem persists 🙁

Please note this is in my index.php theme file, not within a wordpress post. Couple that be causing the problem?

You might have to start with some clean text because now the odd quote chars and apostrophes have already been converted to funky chars due to character set incompatibilities. Bummer. I don’t know of a way to fix that without manually changing them all one by one. That’s not to say there isn’t a way, I just don’t know of one offhand.
