[resolved] Problem with Rich Snippet (16 posts)

    I'm getting the follow warning at Google Rich Snippet Tools:
    "Erro: If count is specified in review aggregate, page should contain reviews. Otherwise you may want to use votes"

    Since this is been notified in GWT I've noticed that some (not all) stars were removed from SERP. Looking at the code generate by the plugin I have:

    <div style="display: none;" itemprop="aggregateRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/AggregateRating">
    <meta itemprop="bestRating" content="5">
    <meta itemprop="ratingValue" content="3.77">
    <meta itemprop="ratingCount" content="175">
    <meta itemprop="reviewCount" content="175">
    </div>

    When I remove the line with 'reviewCount' from the plugin it solves the problem and stars reappear in the SERP. Is it possible to you to remove this line from next version?

    Thanks.

    You can check the error in this url:

    http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dicasparaperderpeso.com.br%2Fcomo-calcular-imc%2F

    Here is one a removed the 'reviewCount' line to test:

    http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mamaeonline.com.br%2Fdicas-para-engravidar%2F

    Really don't know why it doesn't show the error in your site, but if you check schema.org/AggregateRating (examples 2 and 3) you'll see that they never use both counts type and when the 'reviewCount' is used they add a 'review' item to the code.

    Beside that I really don't think it's necessary to use both in the plugin, since it's always the same value and the plugin doesn't allow reviews.

    Thanks for your time

    Regardless, I think what you said makes sense, I will removed reviewCount.

    I will do it next week, https://github.com/lesterchan/wp-postratings/issues/13

    Hi Lester,

    Currently I have absolutely the same issue like celula above.

    I saw that you have already marked the issue as "Fixed" in GitHub, but in fact the problem persists. I'm getting "Error: If count is specified in review aggregate, page should contain reviews. Otherwise you may want to use votes".

    You can check the link of celula from about the error message - http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dicasparaperderpeso.com.br%2Fcomo-calcular-imc%2F

    Would you like to send you a link to my blog? The situation is absolutely the same but if you think it may help, I'll gladly send.

    Thanks.

    I have not pushed this to WordPress Plugin repo yet. You can see the difference in https://github.com/lesterchan/wp-postratings/commit/16eacb8d5a6b4d03fe4385a0cf3c1c79312cbd19 and make the change to your wp-postratings.php in the mean time.

    Thanks, Lester!

    I made the change - now everything shows correct in Google Rich Snippet Tool.

    You should consider making a premium wordpress rating plugin. I think there is a great demand in this field. Make it like Amazon rating system, for example, and I believe you''ll be on a very right track.

    Thanks and regards!

    Thanks for the compliments TodorChristov =) I got a full time job which gives me not much time left to create a premium plugin =(

    Lester, just another note.

    Now I get the following error in the Google Rich Snippet Tools:

    "Error: No rich snippet will be generated for this data, because it appears to include multiple aggregate reviews of many items, instead of a single aggregate review of one item."

    How can this issue be fixed? What can be done?

    Just to add that the error...

    "Error: No rich snippet will be generated for this data, because it appears to include multiple aggregate reviews of many items, instead of a single aggregate review of one item."

    ...is triggered only when there is a widget activated (in the sidebar, for example).

    Without the widget there is no such error.

    So, the widget itself is great, but regretfully it's triggering a nasty rich snippet error.

    What widget are you referring to? I am not getting any error http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Flesterchan.net%2Fwordpress_dev%2F2013%2F10%2F06%2Fmultiple-polls%2F

    The highest rated widget is at the bottom

    I am talking about the ratings widget. I put it again in the sidebar and when its in the sidebar (I have not tested somewhere else), it generates the error:

    "Error: No rich snippet will be generated for this data, because it appears to include multiple aggregate reviews of many items, instead of a single aggregate review of one item."

    Take a look at this post for example - http://www.muzikoholik.com/hello-world/, I will leave the highest rating widget in te sidebar of my blog for you to check:

    I fixed it, could your download https://github.com/lesterchan/wp-postratings/archive/master.zip and overwrite the files to see if it works?

    I have overwrited the new files over the old one and now it seems that there are no errors in Google Rich Snippets Tool.

    Thanks for your time, Lester!
