I am having an issue with permalinks. I updated to the latest version of WP E-Commerce (3.8) and it wacked out my site. I’ve tried their support forums, but it turns out that silence does not fix this issue.

I was using a permalink structure of /%category%/%postname%/. If I use the default permalink structure, it works. Anything else fails (just a blank page).

I have deleted, recreated, had conversations with, meditated about, and done various unspeakable things to my .htaccess file. No luck. I have turned off all plugins, no go. I have searched forums, googled, laughed, cried, cried some more, and still have not found a solution.

I would just like to have me little permalinks back to the way they were. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would even go into the database and manually edit them if necessary (though, I cannot figure out where I would do that).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Join the club. I just upgraded to 3.8.1 from 3.7.8 – Straight away it broke every page with a 404 error – then updating the permalinks twice (??!!) to frig it, finally got it sort of working, but then it failed again after adding another page. As you say, it works fine without friendly permalinks… I think it’s just plain flakey – and pretty disappointed as I was planning to use it on a couple of projects I have ongoing.

Sorry to hear you had problems. It’s very frustrating. Check out this post: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-e-commerce-update-causes-problems?replies=48. You are not alone! The issues never really was solved as far as I know.

My suggestion is to seek out some other options. There are a few and some of them don’t cost too much ($35-$100) and they seem to work better. I personally have stopped using WP E-commerce for my new sites. It just takes to much effort to clean up, get going, and maintain.

    Good luck!

Hi Jason, out of interest, which other solutions have you looked at? I’m looking at shopperpress, as it also supports sagepay out of the box.
