    Hi Alexander:

Absolutely fantastic theme! It’s the best one I’ve come across yet. Keep up the great work!

I have one issue that I can’t seem to figure out so I thought I’d post here in case you (or someone else) has come across it. Basically, I’m not able to get my site’s front page to display properly with multiple sidebars without changing Global options.

If you keep reading, I hope this will make sense….

I have a front page called Home that I want to be the front page of my site. I’ve selected the following settings for this specific page:
    Primary Sidebar: Primary
    Layout: Left sidebar

Theres a note beside the Layout choices that says this selection “overrides the default layout option” which implies that the settings here should have highest priority over anything else.

Under Theme Options->Layout I have the following:
    Global Layout – Full Content
Default Page – The red X option is selected

Under Theme Options->Sidebars I have the following:
    Default Page – Primary:Primary and Secondary:Secondary

As long as I have a single sidebar everything seems to work perfectly, but when I add the second one things get a little odd.

If I go back into the Home page settings and choose a Left and Right sidebar option with Content in the center, I see the Primary sidebar when I view the page but only a blank area where the widgets from the Secondary sidebar should appear.

I’ve tried adding/removing the sidebar definitions specifically for the Home page but nothing makes the secondary sidebar appear correctly.

The only way I can force it to show both the Primary and Secondary sidebars properly is by going into Theme Options-Layout and changing either the Global Layout or the Default Page to be the one with the left and right sidebars with centered content.

While this works for the front page it messes up a lot of my other pages since I only want the multiple sidebars on the front page.

Do you have any idea why I’m seeing this behavior and what should I do to fix it?

    Thanks…

  • Thanks!

I’m testing here on my end and experience the same issue. I will get back to you when I have a solution. Thanks for the great explanation of the issue.

Just a note: For Default page in Theme Options > Sidebars, there is no need to set “Primary” and “Secondary” – as that is default already. But works either way.

This has now been fixed in the latest download here. For the wordpress.org release, you’ll need to wait for the update. Or replace the whole alx_sidebar_dual() function in functions.php with this: http://pastebin.com/FdwKS3TB

Thanks for helping me sort out that issue!

Thanks for the quick response and update to the theme!

I have sidebars showing up on pages they shouldn’t but I can’t figure out how to remove them. I just installed buddypress and I see both sidebars one on top of the other on the left side of the members, groups, activity and shop pages. How do I remove the sidebars from these pages?
