• Hi WordPress experts,

I’ve been playing with WordPress for about 4 years now, and have installed it countless times, so clearly I am very experienced with installing it.

This never happened to me in the past, but recently I tried to install WordPress on a domain, and when I opened /wp-admin/install.php on my web browser, I got Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in wp-includes/pomo/mo.php on line 39.

Note, my PHP version is 5.2.9, and MySQL 5.0.81-community.

    Any idea why?

    Thanks!

  • did you manually configure the config.php or did you try the automatic method?

You meant wp-config.php? Yes, I renamed it manually from wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php and changed the placeholder variables to my own database, username, and password.

If you Hosting service is Dotster, you may try also changing your DB_HOST. Dotster is one of the few where this must be changed.

Well I’ve been using the same hosting company for the past 4 years, and my DB_HOST has always been localhost though, and it always worked fine before.

(But just out of curiosity, what other values can DB_HOST have, besides localhost?)
