I have a problem with installing WordPress 2.3 on the site of our school newspaper, I hope someone can help me solve it.
I've downloaded the latest WordPress, configured wp-config.php with the right database values, and uploaded it to a folder on my site.
However, when I try to install it by visiting the wp-admin/install.php file, all I get is a blank page. But when I enter a false name for the database in the configuration file, I do get a WordPress-page telling me the database isn't right.

So in brief: When I visit install.php with the right database, I get a blank page. And when I do it with a false database, I do get a WordPress-page.

A friend told me he thinks the problem is not our database, but in the WordPress-files. Is he right?
I hope one of you can help me.

You might try uploading a new set of WordPress files. Sometimes FTP can be flakey.

What are you using to upload files to your host?

I'm using Coda (for Mac OSX) to edit and upload my files.
