Support » Fixing WordPress » Problem with blank site. Probably simple but I'm clueless.

  • So I just got a call from a former employer for whom I set up a site. I’m a filmmaker with limited website-making experience (I hard-code everything but it takes me forever) so I need some stuff dumbed down…

    Here’s the site architecture:

->Splash page built with HTML that includes some recent content and a link to the “site” (which is a wordpress blog).
—>Heavily customized WordPress site (based on Almodovar theme but hacked all to hell)

    And that’s it.

At the moment the splash page is working fine but when you click “site access” which should lead to a wordpress blog all you get is a blank screen. I tried to go into the admin site but all I get on that is a blank screen as well. When I check the FTP I find all the relevant files – nothing has changed…but nothing works.

I haven’t updated wordpress for this site since it was implemented sometime in 2007 so its probably running version 2.7.1 or something ancient. We have no plugins installed (its pretty much a company news-roll site without any need for much).

    What happened??

There may be a thread on this already but I couldn’t find it so I apologize if this is a duplicate. This is a bit time-sensitive. Any help anyone has would be appreciated.

    Best,
    -d
