Problem with automatic plugin install/upgrading (2 posts)

    Hi,

I have several installations of wordpress. However, I just did a fresh install on my VPS, and when I try to automatic download/upgrade plugins (or even wordpress) it asks for my ftp password.
I dont have ftp access to this server and I dont want to use this feature - how do I make it work like it used to? Like, automatically?
I'm not talking about changing my wp-config.php file to include ftp info, i'm talking about making it upgrade with no FTP access, like it used to do on all my other installations.

How do I do that? I tried everything with permissions (even chown'd the wp-content directory to www-data, and setting it recursively to 777) and it requests my password every time.

    Ideas?

    thanks!

    Jean

  2. Do you have ssh access? Or a channel id and password? Try those. But you have to have had some way of uploading files, right? Try whatever user/password combo you had for that.
